Missing key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
A further three points in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity
This match provided a chance for several Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official waved away the appeals.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
